Why raspberries are best berries for fertility
Many people assume blueberries are just as good (if not better) for health and wellbeing and fertility than raspberries, but this is not true.
Not All Berries Are Made Equal
There is no point in eating non-organic berries because they are covered in pesticides, fungicides and herbicides that make you infertile. (Please feel free to research this yourself, there are hundreds of scientific articles proving this). Secondly non-organic food only has half the amount of nutrients (but same amount of calories) so you will need to eat double the amount to get the benefits. However, when you eat non-organic food it destroys your gut bacteria so you won’t be able to absorb the nutrients very well anyway.
Best Fertility Fruits Are Organic Fruits
So, as you can see, there is no point eating non-organic food.
Blueberries Vs Raspberries for Fertility
Both blueberries and raspberries contain anthocyanins, (this is a class of antioxidants that may protect against gastrointestinal cancer… And anything that protects against cancer boosts your fertility!)
Both berries are a great source of manganese, (a mineral important for bone health which is really important because when you are pregnant, if your baby does not receive the essential minerals it needs it will draw it from your bone marrow).
Raspberries have a higher fibre content than blueberries, (according to the Linus Pauling Institute). Fibre helps fill you up between meals, helps your body stabilize your blood sugar levels (which can prevent gestational diabetes). Raspberries also help to maintain a healthy body weight, which is the key to balancing sex hormones and increasing the likelihood of conceiving.
Raspberries are renowned for helping to lower your cholesterol and helps to prevent constipation. Constipation means toxic waste is sitting in your colon and can prevent you from achieving faster fertility success. Also, when you are pregnant, you want to do all you can to clear the bowls so a high fibre diet with nutrient dense fruit and vegetables is essential.
Both blueberries and raspberries have extremely low sugar counts (and because sugar can block fertility by making it harder to get pregnant and staying pregnant, it is worth consuming berries daily if you are trying for a baby). In fact one portion of raspberries provides the same amount of Vitamin C as 173 grapes!
Juliet Wilson, a fellow fertility nutritionist said that although raspberries are not a super-food, “raspberries are a perfect snack for couples trying to conceive. Together with their high vitamin C content they are also a good source of folate, which is known to be essential in key stages of female fertility and early embryo development. Raspberries provide essential nutrients that are known to enhance fertility in men and women.”
